[ WHERE TO USE SAFFRON ]

◆ Rice dishes: Risotto alla Milanese, paella, biryani
◆ Soups and stews: Bouillabaisse, fish soup, creamy vegetable soup
◆ Desserts: Crème brûlée, rice pudding, ice cream
◆ Drinks: Saffron tea, milk, cocktails
◆ Marinades: For fish, chicken, or lamb

[ ADDING TO YOUR DISH ]

◆ Timing: Add saffron towards the end of cooking to prevent the delicate flavor from evaporating. For dishes with longer cooking times (stews, risottos), you can add it earlier, but avoid prolonged heat exposure.
◆ Quantity: Less is more! Saffron is potent, so a little goes a long way. A general rule of thumb is 2-3 threads per serving or a pinch of powder. Overusing it can result in a bitter taste.
◆ Direct addition: In dishes with ample liquid and simmering time (risotto, paella), you can directly add a pinch of saffron threads without steeping.

[ USE SAFFRON AS A TEA ]

◆ Quantity: Start with a pinch of saffron threads (around 3-5) or a very small amount of powder (less than 1/16 teaspoon) per serving. A little goes a long way!

◆ Steeping: To best extract the flavor and color, steep the saffron threads in warm water (around 80°C) for at least 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can crush the threads in a mortar and pestle with a pinch of sugar to release their potency and then add them directly to the water.

◆ Base: You can use plain water, but for a richer flavor, try using herbal teas like green tea, chamomile, or hibiscus. Milk, almond milk, or coconut milk can also be used for a creamy experience.

◆ Timing: Once the saffron has steeped, simply strain it into your chosen base and adjust the sweetness as desired with honey, dates, or agave nectar.”
